Transition to Euro – what you need to know!

Bulgaria adopts the Euro as its national currency starting January 1st, 2026. Here is what you need to know about this transition:

How will the change take place on the Bulgarian eMAG Marketplace platform

  • eMAG will handle the price conversion for all offers available on the Marketplace platform.
  • All existing product prices will be automatically converted from BGN to EUR using the official exchange rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN. Your product listings will maintain equivalent value in the new currency.
When will this happen?

December 30th, 2025, 00:00 – January 1st, 2026, 09:00. Both the website (emag.bg) and the Bulgarian eMAG Marketplace platform will be unavailable during currency conversion maintenance.

Existing offers and new offers publishing

  • Changes in XLS templates: Starting January 1st, BGN will no longer appear as a currency option in publishing templates. Please ensure that you submit prices in Euro currency and select the correct currency in the file.
  • Prices in other currency templates: Template will no longer be available for the sellers that used to publish prices in EUR, since EUR will become the local currency.
  • Publish in other currency flow: Since we are in the transition period, the activation or modification of this flow for Euro is no longer available on the Bulgarian platform. Starting January 1st, the “Publish in other currency flow” will be deactivated for the sellers that used to publish prices in EUR.
  • Cross border flow: We will stop the cross-border flow in the blackout period for all platforms (BG→RO/HU & HU/RO→BG). All offers will be reexported starting January 1st, 2026, at 09:00.

For RO and HU platforms:

  • If you use prices in other currency flow and are using BGN currency, we will convert all prices in EUR in the period 30.12.2025 – 01.01.2026.
  • For prices in other currency flow, we do not allow you to activate/change the flow anymore using the currency BGN.
  • If you already publish in BGN currency, the currency will be changed to EUR starting January 1st 2026, as BGN currency will no longer be used.
Orders and returns

  • Both currencies (BGN and EUR) will appear in the Orders, Deliveries and Returns interfaces. The first currency will always be the currency in effect at the time of access.
  • AWBs are generated with the official currency of the respective period. Make sure the value is entered correctly when you need to modify the COD value: BGN in 2025, EUR starting in 2026, taking into consideration the outage period between December 30th, 2025, 00:00 – January 1st, 2026, 09:00.
  • The return fee and retained amount will always be in the official currency from the time of placing the return (BGN before January 1st, 2026, EUR starting on January 1st, 2026)
  • If an order was placed before 2026 and the return request is registered after January 1st, the client will receive the respective amounts in Euro.
  • When editing returned orders via API, you must use the official currency in Bulgaria that is active on the date you are editing the return order (not the original order date). Using an incorrect currency code will result in system validation errors.
  • In the Shipping Tax section, the currency has been added to the shipping rules listing across all platforms. As of January 1st, you can define shipping rules in EUR. Until the new rules are fully enforced, the platform will automatically convert shipping rules for any orders placed after January 1st, 2026.
API & changes

  • We published a new version of the API documentation, which you can find here, together with instructions: API Documentation – eMAG Marketplace
  • Among the new elements in the documentation, you will also find technical support for the BGN–EUR transition, which involves including the currency key in API requests to the following endpoints:
          o api-3/order/save
          o api-3/rma/save
          o api-3/awb/save
Campaigns and bundles

  • All existing eMAG Campaigns in December have an end date before January 1st, and they will not have an impact on this transition.
  • All your active bundles with start date in 2025 and end date in 2026 will be closed by us to allow all necessary updates for the transition from BGN to EUR. To make your bundles active again, you will need to reactivate them manually once the updates are complete.
  • Starting January 1st, the Smart Deals Badge will continue to be displayed for offers that meet the discount criteria versus the lowest price in the previous 30 days.
eMAG Ads

  • Ads credit purchases will be temporarily suspended from December 24th through January 2nd and will resume on January 3rd.
  • All active pre-paid eMAG Ads credit available/un-spent on the date of the Platform suspension will be returned at the next payout date. Starting January 1st, you will need to buy the necessary Ads credit in Euro.
  • All other types of eMAG Ads credit available/un-spent on the date of the Platform suspension will be converted to EUR and added starting January 1st.
  • Your set campaigns will continue to run in 2026, and your bids will be automatically converted to Euro.
Data sections under maintenance emag.bg platform

Some sections within the eMAG Marketplace dashboard and widgets that compile data from both 2025 and 2026 will be temporarily unavailable until a full month of Euro currency usage has passed.

  • Sales overview (BGN with VAT) graphs that compare the evolution of sales versus previous month – will resume on February 1st.
  • Late orders still in progress – you will continue to see these orders in the Order section. The table in the dashboard will resume being displayed in February.
  • Estimated payout value from the dashboard – you can still see the payout amounts and documents in the Financial Section of your account.
  • Ads performance widget from the Marketplace Dashboard.
  • Sales value evolution and FBE costs from FBE Dashboard.
Financial aspects

  • Applicable service fees and commissions will be automatically converted to EUR as of January 1st, 2026. The Terms & Conditions published from that date onward will be updated to reflect the new local currency.
  • The payout scheduled on January 2nd, 2026, will be made in advance, on December 29th, 2025. Starting January 17th, 2026, the standard payout dates will resume normally.
  • Update your billing configurations and accounting settings for Euro compatibility so you can ensure continuity of financial processes.
