In this article you will learn about:
General Parcel Packaging Conditions
Parcel packaging
The way products are packed for shipping is the responsibility of the sender, regardless of the chosen delivery method: locker or address.
Package Delivery to Lockers
This is one of the most popular delivery methods chosen by our customers, and for you, the process of delivering packages to lockers is much simpler.
Depending on the locker chosen by the customer, you will see that in the AWB issuance section, the corresponding eMAG Courier account is pre-selected:
- eMAG Courier Easybox for orders with delivery to easybox
When you receive an order with locker delivery, you will only be able to issue an AWB using the eMAG Courier Easybox account.
Sameday Courier will arrive to pick up the package from your address, and from this moment on, the entire delivery process is managed by eMAG. In case of returns, the courier comes back to return the package to you. eMAG assumes the delivery process only for packages with delivery to easybox.
Products in the fragile category (e.g., cosmetic products, liquid content products, glass products, liquid products bottled in glass, liquid products packaged in plastic, glass, window glass, porcelain, ceramic products) must be packaged in a wooden box or pressed cardboard and filled inside with shock-absorbing polystyrene on all 6 sides of the package.
Delivering Packages to Lockers
Packages with delivery to easybox that fit in the drawers of a locker can be delivered directly to an easybox, without waiting for the Sameday courier.
💡 Products eligible for delivery to the easybox locker must fit into one of the three cell dimensions:
- large cells – 470 x 440 x 390 mm
- medium cells – 470 x 440 x 190 mm
- small cells – 470 x 440 x 100 mm
Failure to comply with packaging requirements or recommendations for proper product packaging absolves eMAG from responsibility for any damage or destruction of products during the delivery or return process.
Each parcel must have the recipient’s identification details (full name/legal entity name and complete delivery address, and preferably the recipient’s phone number) clearly marked.
Parcel Delivery to Address
For parcels subject to the address delivery (cash-on-delivery) service, the responsibility for transportation lies with the courier contracted to provide the delivery service.
For parcels with address delivery, it is mandatory to include the sender’s details (legal entity name and complete address). The sender is responsible for the accuracy of the information on the parcel and, where applicable, the distribution list, as well as for proper packaging and labeling.
Parcels must be packaged and, where necessary, labeled appropriately for the nature of the goods, corresponding to the weight, shape, and nature of the contents, as well as the mode and duration of transport. This includes using an opaque outer covering to prevent visibility of the parcel’s contents and to prevent access without leaving traces.
Considering that eMAG is responsible only for parcel delivery to easybox, we have provided below the rules for preparing parcels for easybox delivery.
Additionally, we have included recommendations from couriers integrated into the eMAG Marketplace for secure parcel transport to the recipient’s address.
General Rules for Parcel Preparation
- Unsealed parcels for delivery are not accepted.
- Parcel packaging must be appropriate for the nature of the goods, ensuring adequate protection against handling by related equipment, varying climatic conditions where applicable, and mechanical handling (diagonal drop height of 80 cm or more).
- Packaging should prevent damage due to successive handling and pressure.
- Custom boxes made of cardboard, plywood, wood, plastic, or non-standardized packaging can be used as needed.
- Parcels containing fragile goods should be appropriately packaged and labeled by the sender, using bubble wrap, foam, polystyrene, or other shock-absorbing materials, and labeled “Fragile.” Ensure the seal of containers subject to shipment is leak-proof, preventing leakage or spillage during transport, sorting, handling of postal items, and potential damage to sorting, handling, transport, and delivery equipment or other goods.
- Parcels must be sealed by the sender.
- For locker delivery, certain restricted categories apply during the summer months when temperatures are too high; you can see the list of these categories here.
Recommendations for Printing and Applying AWB Labels on Packages
- AWB Uniqueness – each package must have a distinct AWB.
- Text Quality – all information on the AWB label must be clear, without compromised areas.
- Label Size – the shipping label size must not be resized or altered during printing.
- Barcode – must be reproduced clearly and in its entirety to be scanned correctly.
- Label Placement – the shipping label must be applied on the most visible/largest side of the package.
- Edge Positioning – ensure that the shipping label is not folded along any edge of the package.
- Data Integrity Protection – avoid folding the AWB label to maintain complete barcode functionality.
- Appropriate Materials – use transparent document sleeves or clear adhesive tape to ensure barcode visibility.
- Package Preparation – first remove any previously attached labels to avoid confusion when scanning the AWB.
- Environmental Protection – apply transparent film to protect your package from potential damage.
