In this tutorial you will learn about:
How to generate the Create products file for adding a large number of products
- Go to the Products-Product categories section.
- Select the Product Content option and identify the name of the category that your products belong to.
- You can use the filters available at the top of the interface.
- Press the Search button and your filtering results will be displayed.
- Once you have identified the category, go to the File Types column and press the Create products button.
- The product listing file is generated where you will complete all information for your products.
How to correctly fill in the Create products file
Open the downloaded file and you will find five useful pages:
- Instructions – see the instructions for completing the product publication file
- Documentation standards – information about image standards and examples + general product naming rules
- Data definition – information about the fields in the create products file, explained in detail
- Characteristic values – here you find the units of measurement for each type of value specific to a product
- Template – this is the product listing file where you need to fill in the products information
Sections of the Create products file:
- Product identification:
- Product Code – you will complete the code assigned to each product. For most products, the product code will be identical to the model number or EAN code.
- Product ID – complete the internal ID of the product. It must be unique for each product and contain only numeric values (143, 281, 114).
- Product EAN – add the unique barcode for each product. The EAN code is mandatory for all product categories.
- Offer – Price:
- Sale Price – complete the selling price of the product, without VAT. Up to 4 decimals are accepted (Ex: 5.1245).
- RRP – you can optionally complete the manufacturer’s recommended price, without VAT. Up to 4 decimals are accepted (Ex: 5.1245). You can complete this field only if the product belongs to an eligible category and has not already been collected by eMAG.
- VAT – you can add the value for VAT (20% or 9%). The percentage value will be expressed as a decimal number (Ex: 0.2 if VAT is 20%).
- Status – complete the status of your product. If you want the offer to be active on the site immediately after validation, then add 1, and if you want to add the product without it being active for now, select value 0.
- Offer – Stock & availability:
- Stock – complete the number of pieces available for each product.
- In how many days you deliver the order to the courier – you can modify the number of days needed to prepare the order from the moment of receiving it until generating the AWB, delivery to the courier and setting the order status to “Completed” on the platform.
- In how many days you can restock – you can optionally complete the number of days from placing a restocking order with the supplier or launching a production order until receiving the products in your own warehouse.
- Warranty – you will complete the warranty period, in number of months, if the commercialized products do not benefit from warranty, you will no longer need to make changes to this field.
- Offer – Price verification:
- Minimum price must be less than or equal to the sale price
- Maximum price must be greater than or equal to the base price.
- Product description:
- Name – add the product name. You must use a descriptive, short title that complies with eMAG standards: “Product type, Brand, Model, Attributes (color, size, capacity, other characteristics)”.
• Brand – complete the brand name. It must be a valid brand that represents the product brand (for products without a brand, “OEM” can be entered). - Description – you can add the product description. Take into account our advice regarding description and try to make a comprehensive description for each product in the offer.
- Own website URL – optionally complete the product link from your website. This will not appear on the eMAG website, but will help our colleagues validate the new offer on the platform.
- Source language – if the source language of the description is Bulgarian, then you won’t need to complete anything.
- Images:
- Main image URL is mandatory, the product should be presented in its entirety.
- Secondary image URLs you can add new secondary images for each product. Here too you must take into account the tips and conditions imposed by eMAG.
- Variation (product families):
- Family ID – you must add the internal ID of the product family, which will be unique for each product family. All products that will be grouped in the same product family will have the same ID.
- Family name – write the name of the product family that should be related to the names of the products included in the family, but should not contain the variations by which grouping is done in that product family.
- Family type – you will add the variation by which product grouping will be done. For example, you can group products by color, dimension, size, etc.
- Characteristics:
- The fields in this section are customized according to each category.
- It is recommended to check the Characteristic values page before making changes to these fields.
After you have made all necessary changes, save the file and upload it to the platform.
How to fill in the New product translations file
- Go to the Products-Product categories section.
- Select the Product Content option and press New product translations.
In the generated file you will need to complete the following information:
- Product code – The product code assigned by the manufacturer. For most products, this will be identical to the model number. However, some manufacturers distinguish between the two codes. The product code must be unique, therefore a code can be used for only one product.
- Product ID – The internal ID of the product. This must be numeric and is unique for each product. The ID does not change between 2 updates for the same product. Ideally, this ID should be the product identifier from your database, which would facilitate a possible API integration. The product ID once set on an offer cannot be modified.
- Category ID (not mandatory) – The ID of the category in which the product should be added. Optional for cases where the registered office is in a different country than the platform country, when products are sent on the translation flow (the “Original product language” field has a different value than BG_bg)
- Category name (not mandatory) – The name of the category in which the product should be added. Optional for cases where the registered office is in a different country than the platform country, when products are sent on the translation flow (the “Original product language” field has a different value than BG_bg)
- Product EAN (GS1 EAN’s) – Numeric character string that uniquely identifies the product. The length of the number string can vary between 8 and 13 characters and can be found under the product barcode. Depending on the category it can be optional or mandatory. The value will always be validated when completed, even in cases where the field is optional.
- Sale price – The selling price of the product, without VAT. Up to 4 decimals are accepted. Ex: 539.5161
- RRP – The recommended price of the manufacturer without VAT. During promotion periods, it is recommended to complete this field with the old selling price.
- VAT – Default values, depending on the country set on the account: RO: 0.21; BG: 0.2; HU: 0.27; PL: 0.23;
- Status – Offer status. 1= active offer, 0 = inactive offer
- Currency – This field contains the currency value from the source platform. Please make sure you have the “Other currency” flow activated on the destination platform and have selected the currency from the source platform (My Account -> Profile -> Financial -> Publish prices in other currencies (switch “Yes” and currency from source platform). If it is not activated, you can request activation from the Message center section.
- Stock – complete your stock value for this product. Don’t forget that you need to establish a quantity that correctly reflects your stock and not list products for which you have no stock.
- Minimum price / Maximum price – are necessary for price checks and are mandatory when creating a product or offer for the first time. We recommend sending these fields only when you want to change their value. The sale price will be checked against the Minimum and Maximum Price, and any offer that does not fall within these limits will be rejected.
- Name – it is mandatory that the product name corresponds to the Source language of the products set in the “Original product language” field, use a descriptive, short and concrete title of the product, this must comply with the eMAG documentation standard: “Product type, Brand, model, attributes (color, size, capacity, other representative characteristics)”. For products sold as a set, mention that it is a “Set” and the number of pieces in the set. If 3 or more colors appear on the same product, the color characteristic in the title is completed with “Multicolor”. Consult the naming standards for products here.
- Brand – Complete with a valid brand that represents the product brand. For products without a brand, “OEM” can be added.
- Description – Add as much objective information as possible about the product, its benefits/functionalities/characteristics. Details here.
- Main image URL – Add the link to the main image of the product – consult the specific image requirements from the “Images” sheet.
- Secondary image URL 1-5 – add the link to the secondary product image, you can add 5 secondary images – consult the specific image requirements from the “Images” sheet
- Product details – Product characteristics extracted from the information provided by you
- Original product language – The original language of the product documentation. Accepted values: en_GB, pl_PL, bg_BG, hu_HU, de_DE, it_IT, fr_FR, es_ES, nl_NL, cs_CZ, ru_RU, el_GR, lt_LT.
Finally, save the file and upload it to the platform, using the Upload file option.
