A new European regulation that introduces additional obligations for merchants selling through online platforms, including you, as an eMAG Marketplace seller.
What’s changing, in short:
Directive (EU) 2024/825 (“ECGT” – Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition) has been transposed into Bulgarian law through the Customer Protection Law §13 а. This law introduces the provisions of:
- Point 15. (new – SG, copy 87 of 2026, in force from 27.09.2026 ) Directive (EU) 2024/825 2024/825 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 February 2024 amending Directives 2005/29/ЕC and 2011/83/EU as regards empowering consumers for the green transition through better protection against unfair practices and through better information.
Before a consumer completes an order, the merchant must clearly display two types of information:
- Legal guarantee of conformity – mandatory for all products. It is displayed through a “label,” a single model established by the EU, which cannot be modified.
- Commercial durability guarantee – applies only if the manufacturer offers it free of charge, for the entire product, for a period longer than 2 years. It is displayed through a “label,” with a standard EU format.
Both types of information must be visible before the order is placed, must contain a functional QR code, and must comply with the established format (color, size), with no changes to the content.
What this means for you:
- You will need to make sure your products meet these information requirements.
- You will need to send us the necessary documents and information (for example, if you offer a commercial durability guarantee, for which products and for what duration), so that we can jointly demonstrate compliance with the new obligations.
